Who we are
Free builder is run by Pyramid Business Express Limited (CRO 734910), Robin Hill, Castletown Lower, Castletown, Co. Westmeath, N91 TRX4, Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy at office@pyramid.ie.
What we collect
- Account: your email, name, phone (if given), role, county and town or area, and sign-in records.
- Builders: company name, CRO and VAT numbers, trades, travel radius, profile text and the verification documents you upload (CRO certificate, insurance, tax clearance).
- Jobs: job details, budget, timing, notes, videos and photos. After a quote is accepted: the site address and phone number you give.
- Messages and quotes between homeowners and builders, including photos and videos sent in a conversation.
- Reviews and replies.
- Fees: invoice amounts and payment status. Card and bank details are handled by Stripe; we don't see or store them.
- Early-access sign-ups from our landing page, with the consent you gave.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To run the service you signed up for: matching jobs with builders, messaging, quotes, accepting a quote and sharing contact details at that point (contract).
- To check builders before they receive jobs, keep contact details private until a quote is accepted, prevent fraud and keep the platform safe (legitimate interests).
- To invoice and collect builder fees and keep accounting records (contract and legal obligation).
- To send service emails, such as sign-in codes, new jobs, messages and reminders (contract). Marketing emails only with your consent.
Automated checks
Before a quote is accepted, text you send is checked automatically for phone numbers, emails, links and Eircodes, and snapshots of photos and videos are analysed by an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) for visible contact details. If something is found, the message or file isn't sent and you are told why. These checks don't make any other decision about you; contact us if you think a check was wrong.
Who sees your data
- Builders on your job see your job details, files, county and town. They see your name, phone, email and site address only after you accept their quote.
- Homeowners see a builder's number, rating, reviews and profile text; they see the builder's name and contact details only after accepting their quote.
- Reviews are shown publicly with the county and job type, not the reviewer's name.
- Our service providers, under data processing terms: Vercel (website hosting and file storage, files stored in Dublin), Neon (database, Frankfurt), Resend (email), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (automated content checks). Some providers may process data outside the EU under EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
We don't sell your data.
How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account is open, and up to 2 years after your last sign-in.
- Jobs, messages, files and quotes: up to 2 years after the job is closed, so disputes and reviews can be handled.
- Invoices and payment records: 6 years, as required for tax.
- Early-access sign-ups: until you ask us to remove them, or 24 months.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time, by emailing office@pyramid.ie. You can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
